While Key West has a couple of beaches to offer its visitors, it is certainly a destination mostly oriented to night life
(a.k.a. bars), restaurants, shopping, arquitechture watching, art galleries, museums and tours.
The Middle Keys are quite different from Key West and are more of a beach and water oriented vacation destination,
although there is significant night life available both up and down the Keys. The Middle & Upper Keys are suited to those
who want to do some serious or fun fishing, sailing, boating, diving, snorkeling and enjoying
the beach in a relaxed atmosphere. Most homes are located on waterways (leading to open waters)
- some are even on the Atlantic Ocean - and have private dockage, great for those who have their own boats or desire a water view.
The Florida Keys are a string of islands formed by dead coral reefs, so we do not have long sandy beaches. However, in the
Middle Keys you can find one wonderful beach: Sombrero Beach - located in one of
the most prestigious neighborhoods of the Middle Keys. Additionally, you will be under an hour from Key West, if you want to
do some tourism there. We also have several properties in Key Colony Beach and other close areas of Marathon that offer
access to the Key Colony Cabana Beach Club completely free of charge, with pool, private beach
and other amenities. For these and other characteristics, The Middle and Upper Keys are considered a good alternative for
families with children looking for a beach vacation - or for those who may not need to be in Key West the whole week.
